专家简介：王筱平教授、男、1963年11月生。1984年获得北京大学数学学士学位，并于1990年从库朗数学研究所（NYU）获得博士学位。曾在伯克利的数学研究所（MSRI）和科罗拉多大学担任博士后。1994年后历任香港科技大学数学系助理教授，副教授，教授，讲座教授及系主任，香港工业与应用数学学会主席。他于2007年获得冯康科学计算奖， 2016年SIAM材料科学数学会议2019年国际工业和应用数学大会的大会报告人。现任香港中文大学（深圳）理工学院校长讲座教授，数学方向负责人。王教授目前的研究兴趣是：界面问题和多相流的建模与模拟；图像处理;智能制造中的拓扑优化问题以及微磁计算的数值方法。发表论文100余篇，以项目负责人和共同负责人身份主持项目包括香港研究基金，国家科技部973项目等30余项。

摘要:The threshold dynamics method is an efficient method for simulating the motion by mean curvature flow. The method alternately diffuses and sharpens characteristic functions of regions and is easy to implement and highly efficient. It can also be applied to more general interface problems. I will give an introduction of the threshold dynamics method and its generalizations, analyzing their properties. Applications to the interface motion in multiphase flow, image processing  and topology optimization will also be presented.
